Why Alkaline Foods Are Needed By Our Body

We all know that our physical structures need a balance not only in terms of the food we ingest, but also in terms of levels of acidity and alkalinity. You need to know that there are two types of food that have an impact on your acidity and alkalinity levels. The first type of food is called acid forming foods and it makes your acidity levels in body waste go up. The second type is called alkaline foods and it makes your alkalinity levels in body waste go up as well.

Ph levels are measured from 0 to 14.0, with 7.0 as the neutral. The rule is, anything higher than 7.0 is labeled as alkaline, lower than that is acidic. The normal pH range of our blood is around 7.35 to 7.45, which is slightly alkali. This is the critical value that should be maintained for our body to continue its function. Anything higher or lower than the normal range could bring the body cells to destruction.

Everything that we take into our body could affect the blood's natural alkalinity, including the food that we eat. Fresh food with less preservatives is less acidic, while processed food that can usually be bought in the market could elevate acidity in our body. Therefore, it is important to choose which are perfect to upkeep body equilibrium.

Fruits and vegetables are excellent choices. Red meat although rich in protein is not advisable. However, you can add protein by using soy products, delicious beans, legumes, and nuts like almonds. Use good fats such as olive, canola, and flax seed oil. Fat dairy products should be avoided, but drink soy milk and goat's milk instead.

Cheese made from soy milk or goats milk is good. Instead of soda, take herb tea, green tea or lemon water. Avoid coffee, drink hot herbal or green tea instead. Replace pasta with healthy whole grains like wild rice, millet and quinoa. Focus on natural products such as raw sugar.

Unless the body is slightly alkaline, cure from acidosis is impossible. Our body buffers acid and lend minerals from alkaline foods. Acidic diets can damage nutrients and minerals making us susceptible to diseases. This is why nutritionists are recommending a less acidic diet. Maintaining correct acidity-alkalinity balance is important to achieve wholesome wellness.
