What is Diverticulitis?

By Eric Mitchell

Diverticulitis is simply an virus of little, bulging pouches in thelining of the large intestine. Symptoms and signs can include nausea and vomiting, bloated tummy or gas, fever, and inflammation in the left lower area of the mid-section. The extreme indicators include abdomen discomfort and noticeable change in your bowel routines. The moderate cases of diverticulitis can be dealt with with rest, adjustments in your diet and antibiotis. However, severe cases of diverticulitis may require a surgery.

What will cause the intestinal pouches to develop in the first place? That is a tough question to answer, but doctors point out not getting sufficient dietary fiber is a likely primary cause. When I first had diverticulitis, the ache was unberable. The pain was so extreme, I could not do my day-to-day activities. I did not have surgical procedure, but I did take various nutritional supplements and improved my life style altogether. I am living better life these days. Particularly, I am looking at my diet more closely than ever before.

Whenever people try to eat a diet that emphasizes processed foods, they usually tend to become constipated. Forcing to eliminate the bowels can lead to the pouches (diverticuli) to form, and when tiny sections of stool lodge in these pouches, diverticulitis results.

For younger folks out there, the good news pertaining to Diverticulitis are very common, specially after age 40. However, it would certainly be beneficial to reduce intake of processed foods, coffee, tea, and stay clear of particular foods entirely.

It is critical to excercise every day and take in balanced meals. As I stated in the article above, you will need to intake significant dose of dietary fiber for good bowel movement. Presently there are many foods with great dietary fiber and I highly recommend sweet potatoes and yogurt. In terms of excercise, it is crucial for you to excercise regularly. I would suggest cardio excercise, simply because your movement will help the bowel movement. The discomfort of diverticulitis is extremely agonizing and it is wise for you to excercise daily and eat healthy food to maintain you in the best shape ever.
